White Pheasant
« on: January 27, 2010, 10:03:04 »
I looked out of my window this morning and saw a white pheasant striding about.  Her (normal coloured) mate was just the other side of the fence.  She started coming nearer to the house when my dog spotted her through the window and frightened her off.  She flew over the fence to join her mate.

I don't know whether she was an albino as she wasn't near enough for me to see her eyes.

aww lovely. ;D
Please don't be offended by my nickname 'Mortality'
As to its history it was the name of a character I played in an online game called 'Everquest'
The character 'Mortality Rate' was a female Dark Elf Necromancer, the name seemed apt at the time and has been used alot by me over the years.

Beautiful really, but not a good survival trait. Saw this one at Chirk Castle a while back.

Not my best photo though.
Gardening is the great leveller.

Actually, if it's on a 'shooting' estate, any white pheasants are not shot!! (they use them as 'markers' on the ploughed fields)
so, ..it's a good survival trait, having a double recessive gene!!
You couldn't make it up!
