Picked first chilli
« on: December 23, 2009, 14:43:38 »
Yesterday I picked the first chilli from one of the plants our Bangladeshi plotholder gave me.

My family said it is HOT!

The plant is only about 5" high but there are lots more chillis on it.

It's the perfect size for my kitchen window sill.

Well done... will it be true... : has it only set fruit while it has been isolated in the kitchen?  :-\

Did you save the seeds Squash? I would be glad of a couple if you did please. I have a deeply recessed kitchen window - ideal for a small chilli plant.

For a second I read that as "a deeply repressed kitchen window".... I just thought that was one that got uptight if people started about talking about sex....:D....

It isn't isolated because the other chilli plants she gave me are next to it.

Photo below was taken on 3rd.December.

One of the tall plants has a chilli on which looks ready, it is a very dark colour, almost black.  I'll get my son to taste it later.

Do you think the two different types could have cross-pollinated?  I have saved the seeds from the small one and will save the others as they get ripe.  Would you like a few?

Yes, I saved them, there were about 15 seeds.  If you pm me your address I will send you some, but read my reply to Saddad about them possibly cross-pollinating.

Well done, totally envious of large windowcill, all my chillis are overwintering in a heated greenhouse, fingers crossed that they start off early next year and i do not lose them
