Very true! I remember making Coconut Ice (icing sugar, cocnut and I think gelatine) with classes of children. Despite scrubbing their hands (them, not me) the sweets were rather less than white or pink at the end. Trouble was they all wanted you to taste theirs. I had to pretend to be allergic to cocnut to spare their feelings and avoid the salmonella. None of them died though.
