I have just put all of mine to bed  today, Them and the dahlias. Always put them in sawdust in the non heated greenhouse
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Would chrysanths survive in the ground over winter if they are strawed up same as dahlias ?

Not tried it myself, but they are tougher than dahlias. I think the temptation would be just to let the stools grow on in spring and not take cuttings and the "old" plants wouldn't be as good....  :-\

Will they not flower so well next year ?

Thought chrysanths are perennials ?

Was hoping that if they overwintered ok, the plants roots being already established might flower earlier next summer ?  :-\

I don't do it so I don't know... but if they were as good the second year why have we been striking new cuttings from the stools every year?  :-\
