strawberry runners
« on: October 01, 2009, 08:11:23 »
I have some strawberrys that I had in pots by my kitchen door (yum) this summer and they haveproduced lots of runners which have now established roots in little pots, they are ready to be detached from the parent plant, my question is, can I plant them straight out intomy allotment or should I leave it till spring? Thanks!

If they've rooted, cut them off and plant them out. It will give the parent plants a chance to recover. Usually, unless I want to increase or renew my stock I just remove the runners as and when they appear.
