Sorry, should have said.  The pic's from Wikimedia.  It's honey - obviously.  Rosh Hashanah, which is today, is the Jewish new year and it's celebrated with sweet things like honey and apples to symbolise a sweet year ahead.  And shana tova is wishing you all a good new year!

Well it is still the 18th of september down here. New year is another 3 and a half months away. I shall celebrate then.

well I quite like the idea of celebrating new year when the days are still reasonably nice, though I see it moves about a bit

December 31st is a terrible idea
