Xmas spud experiment....
« on: September 18, 2009, 02:52:59 »
Been given a couple of each Carlingford and Cherie seed spuds... will build a hotbed bag using fresh horse manure plus sawdust as a base layer, then more manure, leaf mould and soil above and half-bury it at the sunnier end of my plot with some framing for fleece.... Anything I get will be potato salad on Boxing Day tea time.... got to hope the weather co-operates.....

I've planted some carlingford in a black bin and have it in the greenhouse, we shall see... but as hubby said to me as he lugged the soil in, why are we doing this when we already have a million spuds in sacks from the allotment!! Really, he just doesn't get it, the urge to be sowing and planting at all times!  ;)
