What is the best way to cook turnips please. I tried them boiled & they were very bitter. I've grown the purple topped ones & a white one that is ready a month after sowing.

I hate turnips, so don't grow them.  Maybe OK in a stew in winter.

I don't really like the flavour much either, but I roast them (with other veg) and use them in a vegetable lasagne. I am probably going to freeze the rest of ours and will add them to stews over the winter. Once they soak up a nice sauce they will be okay!

I use them in cornish pasties.
