If I understand the slap-head in the anorack right, he's saying that anthropogenic climate change is a myth because the met office got the summer weather forecast wrong.
But the met office didn't get the forecast wrong. They calculated that there was a good chance of a barbeque summer, and indeed there was - a good chance - but as any punter knows, there's no such thing as a dead cert.
So anyways, the evidence from the last 50 years is that the planet's heating up, evidenced by the melting ice caps and changing eco-systems. That doesn't necessarily mean that the climate will continue to heat up, and it doesn't necessarily mean that this fifty-year spike in global temperature is down to man-made greenhouse gasses, atmospheric pollution or the destruction of the rainforests. But it might.
But there's little point him shaking his fist at the science, because the problem is with nature. It freaked out Newton and Einstein, but the truth is the world isn't deterministic. Even if the science is right the answer can be wrong.
