Question about squash
« on: August 14, 2009, 13:00:39 »
Last year our squash were a bit of a disaster as they started growing lots of fruit, but they never got bigger than a golf ball despite being well fed.

I seem to remember reading a post here about restricting the number of squash that are allowed to grow, but I can't find the article. Can anyone give me any tips?

Thanks

Hi
Yes lots of people nip the growing tip of the plant off when the plant has 3 or 4 fruit. That way it puts its energy into the fruit and not growing new ones.

What variety are you growing? I have several differnt ones on the go but some of them are small (gem squash etc), but deliberately so  ;)
