When to pick pumpkins?
« on: July 29, 2009, 16:46:56 »
I've got a pumpkin plant with one big one the size of a football, and a couple of marble-sized ones.

Is it OK to pick the big one now, or will it taste better if its left on the plant longer?

Hi,

I think it would taste better if you leave it longer, it will sweeten as it ripens in the autumn.  The skin will harden too and make it keep better.

There is still plenty of time for the marble sized ones to grow, all mine are still not much bigger than marbles!
