For a little flower such a heavenly scent (I've got the white night scented :) ) on a warm summer evening

I hadn't heard of a white night scented. We have a white one called "David" (I think that's correct) which tends to mildew but it doesn't hurt the blooms which smell like honey in the warm sunlight. Delicious aroma!

Yes GrannieAnnie, very narrow petal formation and the plants grew less than a foot high. Definitely my favourite discovery this year.

I'm hoping to save some seed (if our darling weather lets them dry out!).

I sowed a row of the most amazingly scented Phlox earlier in the year and im very pleased that i bought the seed now. It was worth the wait, as the pretty white flowers open up at the end of the day about 6ish and they have the most sweet smelling scent..

I'll have to try that one next year.
The idea that it is so short makes it
sound like a perfect pot plant for the
front door. Does it really smell like
fresh baked cake?

No, wouldn't describe it as baked bread, too heady a scent for that, perhaps slightly leaning towards a jasmine.
