first allotment dinner
« on: July 06, 2009, 21:42:41 »
Had my first allotment "dinner" tonight. Potatoes and peas with a bit of mint from the allotment with a piece of salmon (obviously not from the allotment!).

I really didn't think when we took over the extremely overgrown plot at the end of February that we would be eating our own produce in the summer. We are also starting to get broad beans, spring onions, radishes, beetroot and courgettes coming through.

Well done :) It's a great feeling isn't it ;D. We've not managed a `meal' yet but we did dig up the first of our tatties to give to the in-laws at the weekend!

We had ours today as well.  Lamb chops with allotment grown potatoes, peas, french beans, carots and cabbage.  It was all mmmmmmmmmmm. Like you I am really pleased as we have only had the lottie since March this year.  This is a picture of what I brought back today.<a href="http://s902.photobucket.com/albums/ac225/Chippyqueen/?action=view&current=moreproduce005.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i902.photobucket.com/albums/ac225/Chippyqueen/moreproduce005.jpg" border="0" alt="Todays harvest">[/url]

Well done, it's agives you a great feeling of achievement doesn't it!

We are not doing badly, we had half a row of Annabelle potatoes the other day which were fab as salad with calabrese cheese! ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴
