Welcome mickthegas.

You are in the wrong country I see. Move over here to Denmark. Here you'll get free spade, wheelbarrow, two forks, a variety of trowels, a selection of pots, oh, and free seeds.

Oh, and I nearly forgot, they'll pay you to stay away from work so you can loaf about on your free allotment.

I'm new too, int it great getting an allotment ??!!

I expect every council is different, I know some don't charge rent for a while if the plot's very overgrown. Anyhow, part of the fun of allotmenteering is scrounging, begging and borrowing. If you put your feelers out you'll end up with all manner of stuff and have a look on Freecycle, you'll be amazed at what you can pick up for nowt.

Have a look at the compost bin tip in  'Journeywoman seeks top tips' in the Basics forum.

Good luck and get stuck in !!

Hi Mickthegas
I started off in April. The plot was so overgrown that when I started clearing I found 2 forks, a hoe, canes, pots, and a bag of compost buried in the undergrowth. Get digging for them hidden treasures.
