Kiwi Flowering. Now what ?
« on: June 27, 2009, 23:56:09 »
Hi all. I have finally got flowers on my 3 year old Kiwi plant I believe it is Jenny the self fertile type. I live in Bradford in West Yorkshire and I have a few questions for all you experts out there, hope you can help.

Do Kiwi's normally flower this late in the year.

Do they get a long enough season to ripen in our country.

Do I have to feed them with anything while the fruit is growing.

Thanks for any help.

I'm not going to be any help at all, I have only ever had beautiful leaves on my kiwi and it's 3 years old.

I just want to say well done for getting it to flower :) / shades x

I posted on the Jenny variety kiwi on 24th June - no response to my question regarding feeding the plant which has set fruit, so I'm just continuing to keep it well watered and will hope for the best. The link by purple heather doesn't mention the self-fertile variety, but I may follow the advice for mulching with manure. Good luck with your plant Mark!
