We have Italians on our plots- they are preety good gardeners!
Everyone is white ??? I'd love some other nationalities-just to see what different plants they grow and hear how they cook them. ;)

We still have the two Scillians on our allotments in fact I'm the new comer they have had allotments for years, :)

Yes, a very nice young Polish chap and his wife came and took the plot. I didn't ask about the dancing. ;)

I love to see what everyone grows. The Bangladeshis love to share their plants and seeds with me and I grow chillies for them in my greenhouse. All the Italians grow lots of artichokes and cardoons, it's easy to see which are their plots. W.Indians love calaloo, dwarf beans and pumpkins as well as the 'ordinary' veg.

Our site is quite boring in that we are all white & English, 1 Welsh man & lady, 1 Irish lady & 1 Scottish lady.

Our old man is also an Irishman. He is 80 and can clear an overgrown plot in an afternoon! Apart from him we have mainly Scots - including an Orcadian, a few irish and English, but also Spaniards, a Pole (of the non-dancing variety), Turks, Americans (of the USA sort) and a Kenyan. We have loads of "other nationalities" on the waiting list, but sadly it seems to be "dead men's shoes" at the moment.

We have an old irishman on our site too but we ain't got an old english bloke unless ower Tone qualifies ;D

It's a bit like the UN on our site - we are in SE London do we do reflect the local demographic.
We have old Oirish guys who love to drink and dig, Italian's who grow the best figs, Jamaicans, English, French. Aussies, Chinese, Eastern Europeans, one Russian, Indian and Belgiums. Even amongst the English everyone seems to come from somewhere different - we even have some Londoners!

It's all very friendly and I wouldn't want it any other way!

It sounds fun, Barriedale, and it must be great learning about other ways and things to grow. Bit Midsomer where I am allotmentwise (but very friendly).

Sounds like we've got serious shortage of diversity on our site..No Irish (anymore)..plenty of English, one Polish, one Swiss, one German and one Finn..
It would be soooo interesting to see more other crops growing here than just runnerbeans, cabbage and moneymaker tomatoes ::)
There is only so much interesting conversation you can make out of those crops..that's why I like to hang around here ;D..someone to 'talk' about all other sort of things that are edibles ;) ;D
Some weeks ago I gave to my neighbour in lottie some strawberry plants..she was over the moon..she didn't think she could grow some on open ground :o..and she's had her allotment for years and years.. ::) That sort of explain how interesting some folks crops are over here..now my mission is to get her growing all sorts ;) ;D

We have a Pole and a Korean, a South African, a couple of Welsh and a Scot but mostly rather middle English and but certainly no Midsomer dead bodies (except the one 5 miles away). But since we all more or less started together a great mix of ages. The only other incomers are the Muntjac perhaps I do have some murderous throughts about them.

The most exotic things on site are mooli, goji and horseradish.

well we've finally got some cultural diversity. The Chinese family next to the allotment have taken up a plot. Grannie, an elderly lady, was lustily wielding a trenching tool for a couple of hours, while Number One Son, a sturdy chap, was sitting down in his tracksuit playing with his iphone. ;D
