trying this for first time when can you harvest as it is enormous now and everywhere i read about it says wait till oct-nov ???

When did it go in ?  I'm only just planting out my Kale for the winter.

With Kale you can pick off leaves as and when you want - you don't have to take the whole thing in one go so take a portion now if you want.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

Well in that case you have a nice early crop - well done fella!. Take some now but beware it shrinks in the pan like spinach.

take the nice young leaves as when they are ready, mine only went out recently but when i grew it in 2007 i cropped it from early july straight through to spring 2008.
