bye bye onions

today i have dug up all my onions due to an ifestation of the allium fly! :'(
every bulb was riddled with maggots or castors.
i've dug the bed over again and weeded/de-rooted. and plan to put in 4 hunter sqash
do you think any residing maggots would intefere with the squash?

had a walk around lottie tonight after chores.and noticed a couple of the asian plots are just growing onions and they dont apear to have been touched by the fly!

Maybe others are growing a different variety (more resistant etc) , might be worth asking?
