« on: May 25, 2009, 20:36:25 »
I have received an email from my dad who is having bean problems ...

"I have a problem with my french bean plants. Planted them out from greenhouse last week.
now this happening to them. Any ideas how to stop them from dying, as i have lost over half of them now."

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Helen

Oh dear poor things....Did you harden them off before planting. Have you had a cold spell of weather since they were planted.

I had something similar happen with outdoor cucs once - tiny white maggots eating the stem - I was told it was vine weevil larvae, possibly bought in with infected compost. Not sure if this is the same thing but I ended up resowing the lot.
