Potatoes in a tub
« on: May 17, 2009, 08:20:55 »
Hello from Shropshire

Before acquiring our new allotment  ;D a couple of weeks ago I thought I would try my hand at growing potatoes in a tub.

But being a novice I have a few questions. I would be grateful for advice.

Hope it's not a silly question but how do I know when to harvest? I can't remember when I planted the four seed  potatoes but I think it was about January. (I have since learnt to keep a record)

Do you think the pot is over crowded? ::)  see photo in my profile

Any comments, good or bad, will be appreciated.
Thank you.

First early potatoes are supposed to be ready for harvesting when they start flowering I think.

I started a couple of potato grow bags myself and Im "itching" to see the results  ;D

Thank you Fork

I have just seen a related post 'call me stupid'.

It doesn't refer to growing Potatoes in tubs but it looks as if mine aren't far off harvesting. I might give it a go.   :-\
