Can anyone identify this for me?  I was sure it was a climber as I did buy trellis to grow it up but now I am not so sure.

First one is Leycesteria formosa - a thicket forming/ suckering plant but not a climber. The second one looks a bit like an Ash sapling..?

Many thanks for identifying them Lucho,  The Formosa had better go down on the plot, I had plans to grow it in a pot on my balcony.

Not sure what to do with an Ash sapling though.

Don't even think about putting the ash in yer garden. I did that a few years ago thinking That I had found a lovely Rowan.In 2 years it had reached the bedroom window. It took Tony ages to get the root of it out.

There's a female ash a couple of plots from me. Don't let it get a hold!

There's sycamore and rose bay willow herb in with that ash too.  I've planted some ash on my allotment to coppice.

This is what I find for Leycesteria formosa.  Doesn't seem to be the same plant as Sinbad's.

I have both the plants Sinbad has listed, the first has come through the fence from the neighbours and is growing in the crack between fence and path...keep meaning to remove it!

The ash has self seeded from nearby and i must get rid of it from both places asap.

I don't know what the first is but i agree with unwashed that it doesn't resemble the Formosa.

definitely the Leycestria or pheasant berry. I've grown it myself from seed and that's what small ones look like

Hope it is Leycestiria Formosa as I read you can plant them in a container so it is now in a big pot by the front door, it looks quite happy.

The pot the ash is in was a pot with a passion flower in, the passion flower doesn't have many leaves but I have noticed today it is in bud.  Don't think I will disturb the ash or sycamore until the passion flower has flowered.

Advise cutting the ash seedling down to soil level. They grow at an alarming rate & could starve the passion flower. PF's can be a nightmare, also, if they fruit - you'll have them coming up for years!

Ok...during a visit to the garden centre yesterday I noticed a plant with the same leaves and looked at the label. I'm pleased to say Rhubarb thrasher is correct it has different leaves when young!

Or the garden centre has labelled the pot wrong ;D!
