Black Plum Toms ---- Help ---- I've killed my babies
« on: June 16, 2009, 08:46:24 »
Hi all,

just been away for a few days and returned to a tray of dead Black Plum Toms.

Moved all other plants out of Conservatory to 'cold' greenhouse but got distracted and left Black Plum's behind.

Home last night and all dead and frazzled with heat.

I have more 'own saved' seed but wonder am I too late to get a crop this season ?

Does anyone have one or two plants (6 to 12 inch) they could let me have, happy to swap and pay postage

thanks

I may have some Black Mavr spare... on the plant stall, or I could find a side shoot to propagate from...  :-\

if not then will be grateful for side shoot offer (presume this is Black Plum ??)

Cheers

Mavr is a black plum shaped tom... is there one specifically called "Black Plum"

I am not sure where I got my original seed (2006) possibly from Gary Ibsen's Tomatofest in the States, but more likely through A4A swaps, Jeannine or City Chick.

Your question is a good one .....  have just been on web and found several references to 'Black Plum'  without any further information so maybe they are all related ?

My Black Plum was only slightly elongated, Plum like, and not really Black, just a quite dark red, the flavour is pleasant and just a little sweet. Not unlike Principe Borghese (which can sometimes look a bit Plum like)
