Yellow leaves on Raspberry plants
« on: May 09, 2009, 18:57:05 »
Hi all,
Do we know what causes yellow leaves on raspberry plants?
Mine are growing well, but one or two have gone very yellow, and some of the leaves are starting to die off.

I thought it might be a lack of nutrients, but someone today suggested it might be caused by the wind.

Any ideas?

Here are some pics:

Check your pH, chalky / alkaline soil can lead to poor growth and yellowing leaves.

thanks, I will certainly check the pH of the soil.  Never actually done that before!

I do suspect that it is very alkaline.  We have very hard water in my area, as the city is surrounded by chalk hills.  Stragnge that some plants are suffering more than others, but i have enough plants to keep me, the missus and the birds fed, even if a couple of plants have bad yields :)

just been reading about yellowing of tomatoes for a mate, it reccommends epsom salts for magnesium deficiency (Hessayon), don't know if it's the same for spuds  :)
