On the allotment this morning I saw lots of painted ladies

They all blew in from the continent apparently.  I saw hundreds and hundreds around Bedwyn and Crofton.

I remember in 1984, we had a massive influx of another migratory butterfly, the Clouded Yellow. I was in Cornwall at the time, and they were all over the cliffs as they came in off the sea. That summer I saw two Pale Clouded Yellows, which are really rare. One was on a ragwort flower in my back garden.

they started showing up here on Sunday and are still around today the most i counted together so far was 8 and they enjoyed all manner of flowers.

amazing they come all the way from Africa :o

The pyracanthus around my kitchen window was swarming with them last weekend.  Lots on the allotment too.  Thanks for the link flighty, interesting to know why!  Nice pics thifasmom!

I told hubbly there were lots of Peacocks migrating here in there hundreds. He said he saw one, but couldn't imagine how they could fly with that enormous tail...............dope ::) ;D
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.
