A turnip for the cooks

OK, so you peel & boil them, then eat them - but what about the bit between the two? Mash them? cut them up? Ideas, please!

Cut them up and bung into a stew. You can probably mash them -you can swede, saute them, roast them with other root veg (in olive oil with herbs).

Chips!  Make them into chips and deep fry them.  Not healthy, but yummy.  ;D

If you mash them, lots of pepper and butter.  Great for stews and soups or if they are young and tender, grated and eaten raw in coleslaws and salads.

You can boil equal quantities turnip and carrots and mash them with plenty of butter and salt and pepper they are delicious - we always have this with turkey at christmas.  I have tried pureeing but it is better mashed with some texture.

Thanks for all the ideas - I think mashing them will be the first to try (but without carrots - I can't stand cooked carrots, though I love them raw)
