Black gold!
« on: April 15, 2009, 19:33:57 »
Got a tip-off from another allotment holder (who had contaminated manure last year) about a source of good manure. Went along today to a local stables and got a car-load of the most wonderful stuff, about 5 years old, really dark and full of worms- and free! And they've got an enormous mountain of the stuff. Just kicking myself for not getting it before I put my spuds in, but everything else will get a treat this year! :)

Keep going back until you need a stepladder to get onto your plot...  :)

Will do.I wasgoing tosuggest to the stableowner that she put an ad on freecycle, but then I thought no, she might be inundated and she wouldn't be able to get on with her work. ;)

Put it on top and leave it to the worms to take it down.

That's my plan!
