i've got some swede seedlings that are ready to go in they are already a decent size, i was wondering if it's worth covering them with netting, last year i lost all of my cabbages due to caterpiller damage so i'm definatly going to be covering them  :)

What size netting are you using?

Flea beetle will cause a lot of damage too, and they are very small.

Isn't April a bit early for swede?

I thought the idea was to grow the from May in the North and from June in the South.
What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

I only manage to grow rubbish swedes...what am I doing wrong....or are home grown swedes always small compared to the ones you buy in the supermarket?

I have to agree about it being a bit to early for the North.  I set two lots away one which will be ready to go in the ground in the next couple of weeks and then i set my next lot away at the end of May. If we get some early good weather that great if not i am still covered.
