Hi, silly question but.....

Can someone explain what is meant by bolting and what does the onions foliage look like when it has bolted?

Cheers :)

bolting is where the plant runs to seed before being ready to harvest this is usually due to the plant being understress and doing what it is designed to and produce seed while it still can, onions will produce a thick stem from the middle that bears the flower when this happens the onion goes hollow and will not store but can be used asap as fresh.
you may be a king or a little street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with de reaper.
