Autumn King carrots

I have some Autumn King carrot seeds to put in. Are these a good variety?

Are they classed as carrot fly resistant?

AK one of my favs. with Yellowstone and Danvers half long. Grow under fleece, better germination and it keeps the fly out..  :)

they are  pretty good carrots but I think the  Autumn in there name is a bit of a misnomer. Since I have had good results from them in the spring and summer to.

I sowed Autumn King 2 as a late variety in August last year.  They never came to much.

Dug up the last of last years Autumn King in late Jan this year.  Stored well in the ground with a little slug protection.  Grown them for the last 3 years and they'll be going in again this year.  Lance

And they are cheap... available in Wilcos etc for pence rather than £1 +  :)

makes no difference to me cheap or dear,I still carnt grow carrots ??? ???

It took me a decade to crack it... persevere, with cheap (Autumn King) seeds. Keeping the drill damp is the key to germination... I sow after a couple of days rain, pref while it is raining, water the drill before sowing. Add sand, firm, water again and fleece. If it doesn't rain again water heavily onto fleece daily until through!  ;D

Autumn king are a great carrot. We make a trench by putting the spade in the ground and rocking it back and forth all along the row. We then fill the trench with sieved soil and we have great results. Of course they are covered with fleece and wire netting. (fort knox)

Trying Columbia F1 from Johnsons this year,£2.95 350 seeds

also Autum king from B&Q 38p pkt.1500 seeds

lets see the outcome.

No quite the reverse... wilcos cheap packets of Autumn King germinate well enough... 1500, comp 300 @£2 for some others...  :-\

Another thing that i've learnt. It's not just me being impatient, carrots have poor germination rate.  8)
