I've extended the that I'm going to put spuds in.
The bits that I've dug over and weeded has gone dry. Is this a problem?
What else should I do to prepare it for planting spuds? Add fertilizer?

The dry cap is a problem to seedlings, parsnips/carrots that sort of thing but Potato shoots will push up through it. If you check it will only be the first cm or so that is dry... :)
