Liquid Seaweed Extract - Opinions please
« on: March 14, 2009, 15:04:52 »
I have nearly used up my Maxicrop which I've been using for indoor plants and seeds. Just interested in what brand other people use and whether they've compared results. Also best prices please.

We use a "blueish bottle" from Derby Garden Centre at Little Eaton... and SML from Chase Organics if it is on offer with the seed order.  :)

Have you gone off maxicrop then or got better results with others? I did search and one of your old posts came up.

OH seems to think it does a better job on the smaller plants. I still use maxicrop for feeding the established toms etc in the large greenhouse.

I'm a fan of Seasol, and also use their Powerfeed for fruiting plants. Everything gets Seasol on it........ ;D Not the cheapest, but a litre lasts me the whole season.
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

I collect 'waste' seaweed from the factory that makes the liquid stuff, they put it into either 25ltr drums or 200ltr drums, sent of all over the world for re-packaging!!  (Ive read the delivery labels on the pallets, this includes australia and california) how many seaweed liquid factories do you lot think there are? ;)
You couldn't make it up!

I get my raw materials here.........

I then stuff a water butt with it, fill up with water, and two weeks later it comes out like this...

Ah yes, and others live in lovely spots that are about as far from the sea as they can get!

Every time I see the sea I think of hard work, but then, as you see from the photo, it has it's benefits too.  :)

I get mine from a local garden centre in Derby, I had a look on the website, they don't list UK stockists but you can email them I guess. I started using it a few years ago when I went to Gardeners World Live and got some free samples!

Herre is one place you can get it online....and a bit more info.

I bought a 10 litre container of Maxicrop, so it will be a while before I switch to anything else for the vegetables, but I am tempted by the new Maxicrop for tomatoes  :)
