This year Im going to grow all my squashes and pumkins like this;

Dig a hole  (save the soil) approx 15/19" in circumference, 12" deep, pile up with horse muck then place a tyre on/around the pile then on to the pile then add back the soil. I will then be left with a mound in which I plant.
Most tyres will be spaced 2 foot apart. Larger varieties may be planted in a stack of 2 tyres.

Last year I planted them all in raised beds but it took up too much space and I can place the tyres on the edges of my main plot as well as my raised bed plot.

The only exception to this method will be my melons and they are being planted in a raised bed with plastic wrapped around it (sort of green house effect)

Each squash/pumpkin/melon will have a plastic pipe (skip dived for these) inserted into th ground at the side of them for watering down.
