The lump is staying
« on: March 13, 2009, 19:58:00 »
After seeing my GP, a Surgeon at Hinchinbrookes and a Neurologist at Addenbrookes
I have decided against surgery. I had a letter this week from the Neurologist confirming the findings of the MRI that the tumour is on a nerve. I was told I could either leave it or have surgery, if I chose surgery there is a possibility that I would end up with foot drop (had to google that).  I had a chat with my GP today and he said if I could manage with pain killers when the leg got really uncomfortable he suggested I go down that road. Apparently according to him if I was unlucky enough to get leg drop I wouldn't be able to drive, so my mind was made up. I have had brilliant care from all concerned, long live NHS. The fact that the tumour is benign was great news.

Lots of gardening to do :)

Chin Up Lorna! Sitting on the sofa is an honourable profession when you have a poorly leg/foot!

Hope it is bearable with the painkillers

Many thanks to you all. I did a test run today, leg was aching a bit after doing some housework. (well that would make anything ache) so I took 2 pain killers got my tools out and did young Lorna's front garden then I took up the sofa position ;D. Lish, I have a busy year ahead. Great Grandson's Christening in May, off to France in June for Charlie's Great Niece's wedding, my Granddaughter's wedding in August, a visit to my sister in Kent and a visit to Rosebud and another meet up with Georgie.
Looking forward to it all.

Once again many thanks for all the nice posts. I am going to have quite a few experimental runs with the pain killers, just want to see see how far I can push myself. Reason??
I have been told I have to dance on the tables at my Granddaughters wedding!!!
I usually manage to do something outrageous but maybe it is time I slowed down (Huh who am I kidding :)). The young Grandchildren love it when I play the fool, the older ones head for the door!!

Long shot, but easy to make horse-chestnut 'cream' might be worth a go. Certainly good for circulation/nerve problems.
