pigeon egg

hi there
2 pigeons have made a nest and laid an egg on my balcony. its been there for 2 days now. they had been taking it in turns to sit on the egg but the egg has been left this morning for some time. will the egg servive now its not been sat on? how long dose it take to hatch?

they a bit small, but not bad if poached on toast!!
You couldn't make it up!

It is over 20years since as a family we raced pigeons. I think they hatch in about 18/20 days. When racing the birds are often sent to the race "sitting on eggs" encourages them to get home quickly!! So providing the eggs are not left too long I think it will be OK. Still only one egg?

well the "parents" are taking it in turns to sit on the egg. i cant tell if there are any more as there is always a bird there now.

i guess i will just leave them too it, should i feed them anything????

no, just grow some peas, or beans, or any of the cabbage family in your garden, I'm sure they'll appreciate it!!
