A herd of deer went through our yard leaving in their wake
piles of droppings, a knocked down fence, one gate torn off the arbor,
and bird house on pole flat on the ground- all to get at some rasp. bushes that
have no leaves!

Oh no, that's awful. You must be devastated.
I remember once we were staying with my parents and two cows got into the garden next door, and rampaged for about half an hour before they were rounded up and taken back to their field. They did untold damage to the flower beds which were her pride and joy. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

As a child I remember the damage some stray sheep did to my cabbage beds...
