You probably will never need to actually prune at all. Most trees give more than enough produce for the family, it is something commercial gardeners need to do for maximum results. An amateur can do more damage than good.
I always suggest that when the tree starts to develop, cut off the branches which are going to cause a nuisance, you will see what I mean as it grows. Shape it to suit your space.
So, leave well alone unless you know exactly what you are doing. You certainly will not go short of produce.
