Topic: Savoys eaten

Been looking forward to harvesting my savoys, could'nt believe it covered in Whitefly and nothing to salvage. Its been below freezing everynight for around week. Thought it would have killed these nastys.

What's eaten them? Pigeons? Whitefly don't eat them in any real sense...  ???

If you cook them with whitefly on, it 'disappears'.

Submerge them in water after cutting,  to drown the white flies.

Eating the odd one or few will do less damage than the residue of the chemicals in a spray used to kill them.

Their is nothing left to cook. I'm talking stripped at first i thought Caterpillars but then spotted the Whitefly. I can't see it being Pigeons.

It will be caterpillars .I posted a warning about 3 weeks ago.  I am still picking em off my winter and spring greens...I have never known em this late in season especially with all  frost we have had of late .

I'll have a look over the weekend and whatever it is i'll drop them off up Gt Houghton for you two. I've never known Caterpillars over winter have you Jim? I t does'nt make sense with their lifecycle.

one of the men on our plots found small green caterpillars all over his psb at the wekend, chickens loved them  ;D
we've had -5 here, quite regularly over the past weeks, can't understand it  :o

Must be global warming. -5 is much warmer than it used to be.  ::)

Manics, ours won't eat caterpillars only slugs and snails, good girls.

found a huge, green one in the soil today, they fought over it  :o ;D
