Welcome to the site Bappelbe...
I know DebP's greenhouse isn't heated so I think it is a recommendation to be taken with a pinch of salt...  :-X

Neither my home greenhouse or the little lottie one is heated, I use fleece over small pepper plants until May then they all take their chances! I've had good crops from Big Banana in the past so perhaps they are tougher than they are thought to be..?

I also grow my peppers on gravel topped staging and put gravel on the top of the pots, I find this acts as a 'heat sink' and keeps them cosier at night, and protects the rootball a bit more in the summer.
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

hiya, bappelbe, welcome to the site  ;D
what sort do you grow ?

Last year I picked up one type of sweet pepper in a garden centre (not sure which type)
and I grew Cheyenne and Cayenne chillis.
This year I plan to grow Gypsy Hungarian hot wax and Super Chilli.
I had discounted the Big Banana because of the warning not to expose to temps of less than 12C, might try it now.

thanks

Bill

This year, growing Marconi Rosso. In a previous year, did really well with a yellow pepper - Oro.

Chillis - done well with Rocoto ones from RealSeeds, also HSL's Trifetti. Last year wasn't the best of years but Friar's Hat did well.
