Swap books, free site - readitswapit.co.uk
« on: January 09, 2009, 23:11:07 »
More on free books! http://www.readitswapit.co.uk/ is a site where you can list books you want to swap, and search for books you'd like in return. I haven't actually made a swap yet, but I have a big list of books up - only one of them garden related so far, but feel free to look at my list, I'm on there as hellohelenhere. :)

2 other sites I would recommend as better than readitswapit.. The reason I left readitswapit is because it is difficult to find a pairing where you want their book and they want one of yours.

1. If you are looking for something specific, www.bookmooch.com is great. I've had a few really new books from there. You register the books you are willing to pass on, get a point for each one you send. You request books and pay 1 point each. You get 0.1 point for each book in your inventory for offering.

2. If you read a lot and want to pass on books / meet other people, then join bookcrossing. Before each book is passed on, you register it with a number and hopefully everyone who reads the book says that what they thought of it / what they did with it.

I am beckydore on both forums.

Ooh thanks Becky! Yes, the system on Bookmooch does seem much better. I've just uploaded some titles and am already making my first outward swap...
Cheers!

Becky, thanks for the tip about Bookmooch - it's much better than ReaditSwapit! I'm sending out my fifth book and have 2 on their way to me. :)
I've deleted almost all of my inventory from ReaditSwapIt, it was getting so frustrating - not a single swap worked out from a number of offers and requests.
You don't know a similar site for videos and DVDs, do you? I looked at TitleTrader (?) but they didn't seem to have anything I searched for, probably because if they did exist, they were in the US and wouldn't post to the UK.

This is the only recommendation that I had back from our bookcrossing forumm. I haven't tried it myself. I had a quick look and it appears that you put on the number of points you are expecting for an item - not sure how you best work out the points.

Becky

www.swapshop.co.uk is good. You get points when you "sell" CDs and
DVDs (and other things) which you can spend on the site. I have got
rid of many things on there and also got some CDs and DVDs I have been
looking for for ages.
