small wood chips

We had the wood chips in a container, these are from the chainsaw cutting up logs about 6 months ago. The container then filled up with rain and sat for months. Do you think now it would be ok to tip straight onto the garden or should I distribute it amongst the compost bins?

I had some wood chippings for over a year and they still had not rotted. The wooden shavings from my hen house bedding takes up to a year to turn to compost.

DON'T dig in wood chips!! they'll rob nitrogen from your soil!! Put them in a heap and keep adding liquid nitrogen (P ON IT)!! ;) it should then break down in 12 / 18 months.

I use wood chip for my 'temporary' allotment paths. At least the kids know where it is okay to walk now without trampling my onion sets. :-\
