Topic: Lawn turf guestion ?

  I have to remove some lawn to extend our patio and will have to store or

  rot down the turfs.    Can someone advise me please as what is the best method  of stacking
 
  them - is it grass to roots, roots to roots or grass to grass ?

  Will probably black sack them and should I use an excelerant ?

  Will want to use them as a raised bed base or compost - but I'm not ready yet.

I   would   put  grass  to  grass   and   put    black   sheet   over   it.

If storing for re-use as a lawn the turf must be stored singly laid flat green side up.

If breaking down for loam then stack in a pile somewhere green side down. Covering is optional but if not covered some grass will still grow at the edge of the pile.

I expect the Romans would have used thicker straw like grass.

Why do we refer to them as Romans, surely they would have come from all of Italy, thus being Italians.

  Can understand what you're saying but figure that not all the Italian race had the same ideals
  as those that were trained to  ' conquer ' and develope other lands, by their generals and mainly
  their Empora 's who functioned from Rome itself.   Think the Legions who fought their way across
  many countries were called Romans for that reason -- possibly ?

  Any other ideas on the subject would be of interest.
