Pricking our Onions
« on: January 20, 2009, 09:16:07 »
All my onions are ready to be pricked into cells, but I do have quite a few what I am unsure of is the temperature they will need to grow on, will they be OK in an unheated greenhouse? I will struggle if they all need to be kept on window sills around the house.
I would appreciate any advice
Susan

Grow on, giving them plenty of light, but being careful not to force them with too much heat, and too much water, 8°-10°C (45°-50°F) will do.

Watering depends so much upon the weather, so always allow them to dry out between each watering.

It is advisable to spray seedlings, from the second leaf stage with a fungicide at regular intervals to deter ‘damping off’

Week 14; Gradually harden off seedlings prior to planting out.

This is how I treat my onions; http://www.thegardenersalmanac.co.uk/Data/Onions/Onion-Seed%20sowing/onion-seed%20sowing.html
