First Aid Kit
«

After today I'm going to get an old biscuit tin and make up a first aid kit for the allotment. i used to have one in the car but it's disappeared anyway it didn't have what i needed today. I was weeding my raspberries and managed to flick a bit of dirt straight into my eye. I was only there an hour and planned to stay another hour but I had to leave. I tried washing out the dirt with water from my water bottle but the water was icy and didn't help much. My fingers weren't very clean so I packed up and went home via a chemist so I could get an eye bath and wash. I have an eye bath somewhere but knew I wouldn't find it. It feels a bit better now but looks terrible and lots of black stuff washed out but it feels like there's more it could be a scratch though. It's not quite as bad as the time an insect got itself stuck on my eyeball!
So I recommend First aid kits including an eyewash.

Agreed - have one in the car and one on the plot - even the basics are better than nothing and a bottle of clean water is essential...and the one thing I never have! :-\

it's in the rules of our site - must have one on the plot (in the shed if you have one) or accessible in the car if you've driven there, which most people have.

Did a stupid thing and grovelled around on the plot with no gloves
on --- met a razor blade !!??, poured bottled water on it -- had plasters on the
plot, carried on regardless. Just as well I had had a tetnus jab,
Keep everything in a bag or your shed to keep you safe.

Can I suggest a bottle of t tree & lavender oil. Both can be used neat. T tree for cuts & grazes & lavender for bites & stings.
Janet.

We have 4 kits at various places around the site which you can get at if need be.
They are not locked away so its easy if you are on your own.

Good idea. I'm sorry to say that I don't carry even some Elastoplasts. I think a little shopping expedition is called for this weekend.
