Just thought I'd introduce myself.
« on: January 13, 2009, 03:03:31 »
Hi, I'm clint from Lancashire, uk and I'm new here. I have a piece of land which I keep a few chickens on but I'm very interested in growing myself some food as well.

Welcome to the site Clint, are your chickens for eating or eggs and how many do you have?
Like Jeanbean, i'm not allowed them on my plot but loved collecting the eggs when i was little and my grandads had them.

Welcome, Clint. It's a great site.  You're lucky to have a ready supply of chicken manure.

wow, I can't believe how many people have replied to this post  :o. You have all made me feel really welcome, thankyou.

To answer your questions,
Welcome to the site Clint, whereabouts... I was brought up in "sunny" Rossendale but have been in exile since 84...  ;D
whereabouts in sunny lancashire are you ?
I live in Horwich, just on the Lancashire border between Chorley and Bolton.

where in lancs, east or west, I'm thinking maybe EASTWARDs.     ;D ;D ;D
lol.

are your chickens for eating or eggs and how many do you have?
I keep my chickens for eggs tho I have been considering keeping some for eating (hope that doesn't offend anyone)
We only have 8 chickens at the moment. We had a problem with mink during the summer which killed a lot of them. We did have just short of 50 birds, some cockerels too.
I am planning to get more in the spring as there has been no sign of any mink for a while now.
