Slugs

Mrs Ava:
Don't know if this should go in here, the shed, basics or top tips, but away I go!

Noticed some time back that my plottie neighbour had cut up cork scattered all over his plot, mostly between his spuds and strawbs.  Sawn him today for the first time in months and asked him and he said they are old wine bottle corks which he cuts up and scatters around.  The slugs are apparently more attracted to the scent of the vino than the plants so keeps them away from your veggies.  Drunken slugs!

What do you reakon, good idea?  He said he hasn't suffered much slug damage, but then neither have I and I haven't used anything.

I asked if he was having to drink more wine, and he said it was a necessary evil, in the name of pest control.  :P ;D

Multiveg:
In the garden, we use beer for slug control (I don't like beer, but hubby does, so he doesn't mind). Sometimes, we buy beer especially for the slugs - Tescos value at 88p for 4 cans! Sometimes, I even catch my hubby drinking this weak stuff.

rdak:
interesting idea I read is to spray your weeds with beer to get your slugs to do your weeding for you!

Roy Bham UK:
 ;D ;D ;DRoss ;D ;D ;D

Bannerdown:
I pick them up with Chop sticks, roll them in silver sand, then dispatch them to God knows where with the aid of a Course anglers catapult.  Cheers, Tony. ;D ;D ;D
