The quest for the best continues...... chillis next
« on: November 04, 2008, 11:08:29 »
I love chillis, not just the heat but the actual chilli taste.  What would all you chilli aficionados recommend as a top taste/heat combo variety?  It has to be an outdoor variety but I am in the balmy south-east.  Thank you!

Aji Crystal have a lemony tang to them, they are mild(ish) in heat.

Thanks dtw, think I am probably looking for something with a more 'conventional' chilli flavour, if that makes sense!  But I'll keep Aji Crystal in mind for when space isn't as limited and I have room to experiment.

Saddad, thanks!  No greenhouse  :( so don't think I could risk it in case the whole lot failed - if we get another "summer" like this one, that's entirely likely!

Weedgrower, what's good about each of them?

C'mon chilli-heads!  There must be a killerdiller chilli out there just waiting for a place on my plot!

demon red and priarie fire both pack a punch and dont take up to much room, apache are hot but also sweet and pinochios nose are fairly big and pungent, ideal for making curries

I particularly like Espanola  as an all rounder, Kung Pao for green curries and Italian Cayenne for (surprise :) ) cayenne.
