Topic: Can`t open Attachement

Had `Open Office`now uninstalled and now have MS Office 2007 loaded, but now can`t send by email attachement called `Timesheet `( doc file) which is  a  MS Office Word file 97-2003.The distant end can`t open this file----error box appears saying `This program does not have a program associated with it,create association in control panel ? ?
I`ve been into Word 2007 found Documents and selected this File-- right clicked this file and chosen `Properties`. In this tab I have chosen Open with MS Office Word.
Still won`t open
Any ideas please

MS office 2007 saves documents as .docx rather than .doc.  This means that if you have a version prior to 2007, you can't open documents created in 2007. And it appears to be so the other way round.

My father until recently had MS Office 97-2003 and now has MS Office 2007. He can open any files & attachments sent to him from  Word 97-2003--but I can`t open attachments from Word 97-2003 and I have also MS Office 2007 ? ? Should I reload Office 2007 ? ?

It's worth removing then re-installing.

Before you do, have you tried saving it as a different type of document?

save as,
then
save as type:

Maybe try works 2000, office should still be able to open it.

Hi Neil again.
As you can see above ,I am using Windows mail in Vista and when somebody sends me a Email with an Attachment   I can`t  open it , If it is  Ms Office 97- 2003--this is since I upgraded to MS Office 2007, but it will open if you Save AS--but thats not the point ,my other friends with MS Office 2007 don`t have this trouble with Attachements

Why, oh why, do people not learn that the .pdf file is the real format for saving files. They display exactly as you made them in the first place, can be printed at A4 or A5 without any problem. The best Office software is Open Office and it's free!

i agree with larkshall that open office is the best never had a problem with it, it opens every file that ive asked it to and its FREE ;Dhttp://
