Topic: I love my plot because?

I love my plot because  (have had it 3 weeks now)

my kids love getting involved and would rather dig mud than watch TV :o

I have lost 7lb in 3 weeks even thought I have been eating twice as much as normal :o

I can get muddy and dress in comfortable clothes and no one says out other than hows the Lotty going

I can drop the two oldest children off at school and the youngest nearly always falls asleep so I sit for the first 10 minutes when I arrive an just smile at what I have achieved 3 short weeks ( 2 thirds cleared an 6 beds dug and planted with winter veg with a little help from friends  ;D)

I have found out who my true friends are

true friends help to the best of there ability and go home as knackered as you

other come down for half an hour mone spend half the time sitting or looking round them go home or worse come for half an hour make a mess and then go home leaving you to clean up the mess ::)
 
and finally and this Is the best because it is mine ;D

Hi Trinity,

Best thing I did since I turned 50 - lovely tasting fruit and veg to eat and share with my children and neighbours - like minded people to chat to -  exercise - seed saving - and my latest success - showing.

Can still watch a game of cricket on a Sunday too if I enrol OH to cut the paths  ::)

We got our plot about 10 days ago, not sure but swear I could hear Tarzan in there somewhere! Lots of very hard work to do, come home knackered and filthy, but have met some really nice people there, can't wait till we get it cleared (roundup I love ya!) lots of plans to make as to where our raised beds will be, what to plant, when to plant, and the joy of watching it all grow,even our 6yr old grandson Ben has been bitten by the lottie bug! Ofcourse we do have a telly, but may have forgotton how to turn it on. Am I bovvered? Not a chance, 50 yrs old and have finally found something to keep me happy fit and out of trouble!!

I love it because it's different every time I'm there... since I've got feathered fiends (chickens) that's every day. And everyone is sooooo sociable.

Suppose the test is on days when it's grey & miserable, especially in winter... but even then I get on my hands & knees, do some weeding, listen to the radio at the same time, & stand back to admire how tidy it looks afterwards. Save the construction tasks (build your own shed, coldframe, hedgehog box, bird box) for Winter.

I love mine as it is mine - away from the house and the kids, OH and the house work.  I can do what I want how I want  - and have made new friends who understand when I get excited over horse poo !!!

So please that I took the challenge at the age of 54 and still manage to hold do a full time demanding job and keep house.

I love our plot because...

It is a shared hobby for Ant and I and it is good to spend time together
We get loads of nice food and I love cooking
The people are lovely, friendly and helpful
I can give lots of stuff away and make other people's day
I like the friendly competition
I like the planning and experimenting

The only thing I don't like is the effect that home grown produce seems to have on Ant's digestive system (hope he doesn't read this LOL)

  I love my plot because,

  It's my sanctuary, my quite time before I get down and dirty - OH calls me Dirty Illeen [ Dixies M R ]
  Love to give the family produce, and show the G children that veggies grow long roots and sometimes
  an over abundance of foliage instead of appearing via the moon in clingfilm.
  
  Going for a checkup and nursie is a happy bunny when I tell her I ' work ' on the lottie, [ 66 and far
  healthier than a year ago ].

  Everyone thinks I've been abroad [ SUN - June / july ? ] and we should use sun cream shouldn't we ?

  Creating, I am replanning my lottie which is another year - if not longer in the making,

  Coming home to OH and that lovely sweet cup of coffee [ only take water - tend to dig with my mouth
  open ?! ]

  The feeling that it,s my place, for a while -  but love it when the family visit and make all the right
  noises over the leeks and parsnips.

  Could go on -  It's addictive, satisfying, tireing, sometimes soul destroying - blight etc,  but - ' you pick
   youself up and ...........'
