I liked the arrangement of the national anthem. Not the usual one.

Summer will be over for a while in a couple of weeks time when I venture up to the frozen wastelands for a fortnight staying around the lake district. Then it will warm up again until the middle of November when it starts getting chilly at night. But instead of changing into longjohns I will disappear and fly south to the Canaries for a while, come back at Xmas. then 3 weeks after that it will be the start of spring. Unless the weather buggers it up again ;)

When the weedy type of Michaelmas daisies start to flower I know its count down time.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Thought of another couple.  When runner beans are running out, and when you need to clear the greenhouse of tomatoes.  :( :(

I also agree with shirlton, 22nd September.  Autumn equinox.  More hours of dark, rather than light until the Winter solstice. :'( :'(

The end of August was very cold abd miserable but it is hard to think that summer is nearly over.  It has been a lovely day wall to wall sunshine.  Ocutber can sometimes be very nice.  One year about 1987  the warmest day of the eintire year was in October.  But looks like it is downhill from now on.

Blimey mate is it going to be that cold up there. I was of a mind to get two or three of those northern wenches to keep me warm at night for a couple of shillings, but then I realised they will be smothered in goose fat and sewn into their underwear for the duration. They could be a bit whiffy by then. Still I could take a couple of bottles of brut to splash all over. No, second thoughts on that, It might make them a bit too much lustful. ;)

when I suddenly realise that in just a few weeks it'll be time to sow next year's garlic :o

But until then...tomatoes, courgettes and lettuce are still going strong, so it's still summer as far as I'm concerned!
