White Slugs
« on: August 15, 2008, 19:25:57 »
Anyone else finding these on their lottie?  They seem to be just under the surface of the soil, but I'm not sure they're actually the white ones, they're quite small but do have a very faint tinge of orange to them once the light hits them???  Either way, they're going to be leaving shortly because I like my earthworms!

Yes, we have white, grey, brown and camouflage stripe ones. Years ago we were infested with black ones but I have only found one black one this year. I have been slug lamping tonight and killed hundreds (with a pair of scissors). Breeding? they were at it all over the place. We are on heavy clay soil with all this rain we are unable to cultivate as its too wet (like putty), the slugs love it.

You can definitely have some of what we've been getting saddad.  Could probably build nice solid huts from my clay soil now!
